Band Camp is Almost Here!

Band camp is less than a week away! I hope everyone is getting as excited as I am!  As it gets closer everyone needs to make sure they are doing several things to make sure they have a great experience.

  • Drink Water!  This one is probably the most important. We will be outside in very hot weather and if you are not hydrated you will have a harder time.  Start drinking water now so that when camp gets here next Wednesday you are plenty hydrated and ready to go!
  • Spend some time outside! Like I said, its going to be hot.  Take some time everyday to go outside so your body gets used to being in the heat.  Go for a walk or run, the better conditioned you are the easier it will be for you to do technique block and the many other things we will be doing outside!
  • Practice your Instrument! Along with being outside we will have brass arc everyday at camp.  Hopefully you all have been playing over the summer, but if not now is the time to break out your horn!  Play some everyday to make sure your chops are in shape so when the band plays you can contribute with a good sound.
It is right around the corner, so its time to get excited for a great season!

Getting Started

Hey everyone,

Hope all of your summers have been going great.  This is sort of a late first post for the blog but there hasn't been too much to discuss with it being the beginning of summer and all.  Hopefully everyone is staying cool and enjoying their time off!

This is just a reminder that if anyone has any questions over the summer there are several ways to get answers.  Your best resource will be to get in contact with your squad leader or section leader.  They will be willing and excited to help with anything you may need.  You can also check the band website for upcoming dates as well as the Facebook group.

The letter for the DCI trip for this season is now on the band website! Make sure you all take a look at it.  It is not required to go, but it is one of the most important trips of the season.  It is lots of fun and a great way to make friends.  It also allows the band to see amazing shows and what our band is trying to do.  Everyone, especially rookies, should plan on going!

Stay posted for more updates and enjoy your summer
